Lead the World

Never Enough, beCAUSE… Always something to learn, always something to give™

There are in today’s world, many youth and young adults who are eager and willing to stand for something worthy and invite others to stand with them. All these youth of the rising generation need to connect with opportunities so their leadership capacity is developed. We call this organized expression of youth movement, “Lead the World™” (LtW).

This is how the program works: Through a “leadership talent search,” a team of 3–9 young adults (22–30 yrs) are selected to join their counterpart team in Africa. For up to eight weeks, the LtW team will work together to provide support for the beCAUSE™ campaign and other related projects.

It is imperative that today’s youth/young adults understand that some aspects of the future are not predestined, and that many futures are possible. The question is; how are they going to be successful in their careers and also play a part in shaping a just and peaceful future? We’ve found that self-coaching is one of the keys for doing so. If people can use coaching techniques to understand how they respond to changing circumstances and apply this understanding to their behaviors, they can effectively adapt, lead and thrive.

A trained Smile Africa staff or director will share, with LtW teams, the ARTT™ (Aware, Reflect, Target and Try) of Self-Coaching, a four-step process used by a variety of people and organizations; developed by Les Woller & Associates.

LtW Program Format:

To ensure high levels of attention, individual and group support, each program is limited to 3–18 participants all together, and every program has a core curriculum on Leadership (in today’s level of democratic mediocrity), Self-Coaching and Management.

Some specific projects being developed for LtW teams in Canada and Africa (and soon around the world) include the following:

  • “The Interpreter” Book Project
  • Supporting the beCAUSE Campaign
  • LtW Empowerment Workshops
  • Smile Africa Green Challenge
  • Mobilizing Girls for Self-Reliance
  • Youth & Media Program
  • My City Bookraiser Challenge™ –participating LtW teams are challenged to raise $1000 –in collaboration with public and private schools and libraries, etc. The amount is matched and $1000 in new books is donated to a local school or a literacy program in the community, while another $1000 in new books is sent to a school in Africa through Smile Africa LearningSPACE library.

You can support the LtW program by nominating and sponsoring a young adult participant from your community. Please stay tuned as we are finalizing the policy and procedures manual for the LtW kick-off.
