Overview
The people of Africa are building a continent most of us hear about only through reports of famine, war, disease, corruption -- the list goes on. But Africa is a vast and diverse continent rich with human and natural resources whose people exude hope and determination with the same basic desires as people around the world; a better life, with ways to improve conditions for their children and families.
SMILE AFRICA takes great pleasure in acknowledging the UN and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as they represent a new pathway, not only for the world’s poor, but for all of humanity to take some responsibility in bringing justice, equality and healing to the world.
No doubt the UN MDGs when achieved, will birth a new humanism, one in which a person is defined first of all by his or her responsibility toward a fellow human and the world. In this way, the human spirit grows increasingly free from the poverty that enslaves both the poor as well as the wealthy.
