Strengthening community bonds through the arts
In the face of the modern development of our world, an ever-increasing number of young girls in Africa are still missing out on the education and training in music and arts. In Africa, music and arts not only serve as entertainment, but a way to also promote social and civic culture in society. Through story-telling, festivities and celebrations, the arts can be used to keep hope alive, draw people to God. Artists can provide fine leadership in their communities and anchor their society’s future, and yet there is a wide gender gap.
As such, the Heritage Fund is being established with the aim to preserve and advance African music and arts through a three-year $900 scholarship. Particular attention would be given to girls 12 – 15 years. Scholarships are renewable for students who excel and seek to continue for another three-year term to complete a high school music/arts program. With the keys to gaining knowledge – professional training -- in a young girl’s hand, she can now dream of one day becoming a professional artist, author, educator or a poet and be part of development in her community.
Donate to the Heritage Fund today. Thank you.
